Over the last few months, Know My World has been working hard on updating and clarifying our vision moving forward. What began as our vision nine years ago, with a focus on cultural awareness and connection has expanded to include important concepts in social and emotional learning (SEL), and now, with the current Coronavirus pandemic, and social justice movements including Black Lives Matter, we cannot neglect the need to include content around being an effective ally, contemplative practices, student safeguarding and mental health strategies. As our model continues to expand, the term holistic education resonates with us, as it encapsulates all that we hold to be valuable in the education of children around the world.
We believe in the power of transformation and we see an emphatic need for
global transformation in traditional educational constructs, which are predicated on the memorization of information, and have been outdated since the invention of the internet. As a team of passionate educators, we are acutely aware of the importance of enriching our education system through holistic practices. We are dedicated to supporting teachers in nurturing the whole child by cultivating classroom communities that foster holistic education practices, through conscientious learning.
As of September, we will be offering e-learning professional development training, and coached cross-cultural virtual exchange experiences. We currently have several high quality classroom resources available, to support teachers in creating powerful shifts within their classrooms.
