Don’t let the name fool you because when I was first told to use Slack to communicate with my fellow colleagues, I wasn’t sure this would be a good fit, but it turns out that it is! As I have been part of the Know My World community for the past 9 years, I understand how important it is to stay in communication with your fellow colleagues especially within a long-distance collaboration. Know My World has colleagues from all around the world and having the chance to communicate easily with other colleagues is imperative to our organization and Slack is the way to go.
Slack is a place where you can communicate via chat. The capabilities of Slack allow you to share images, folders, videos, gifs, and more. Slack allows users to create secure channels so you can communicate in small or large groups or just one-on-one. You also have the opportunity of calling a Slack user within your direct messages, but with the free account you can only have a one to one video call. Purchasing Slack has some great features that include:
- Communicating through voice and video calls for larger groups
- Collaboration with outside guests
- Slack teamwork assistance
- Enterprise-grade security
However, a free version of this software is a great way to communicate with others in a secure place. Slack is available in the Apple and Play store so if you are not near your computer, you can communicate right from your phone. If you cannot download the app to your computer, use the Slack website to sign into your account and continue communicating.
I highly recommend giving Slack a try. I honestly use Slack on a daily basis and really enjoy the features and collaboration features I have to stay connected.
