You Don’t Have To Remind Me
Alicia Resignio, Know My World Educational Coordination Manager and Instructional Technologist
Time goes on. It doesn’t stop and sometimes we get so wrapped up in different things that we need a schedule to stay on task. For teachers, schedules are imperative as they are continuously scheduling meetings with parents and staff, upcoming events and fundraisers, presentations or important due dates. They are also in constant communication via email and phone with parents and students. Therefore, teachers can really use a helping hand and there’s an app for that! The app Remind has many teacher-friendly features that any teacher can truly rely on.
One of Remind’s greatest features is communicating via text message. A teacher can text their student securely without actually exchanging phone numbers. Once a teacher makes an account for their class on Remind, they can add students and ask them to text the Remind texting number. The message then needs to have the class code for the student to join. When the student joins the class, teachers can use their own cell phones, computers, tablets or iPads to stay connected. It’s that simple! This allows everyone to stay involved in upcoming news, events and activities.
Remind is also a great app for parents. Parents like to be informed of what their child is doing in class or keeping in contact with their child’s teacher. Remind allows parents to do this as well. For parents to stay connected, they follow the same steps as their child to join the teacher’s page. Now, communications can be instantaneous and on the go.
As a teacher and a manager for Know My World, I have been actively using Remind for a few months now. I find Remind to be easy and simple to use. This application really helps me stay organized, focused and stay in communication with my team members. I recommend this application if you are looking for a simple task manager with mobile capabilities.
