Lisa Petro is the co-founder of Know My World, generating a team of powerful and inspired people making an impact on the world through education. She has an M.P.S. in Humanistic and Multicultural Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Lisa specializes in the design and development of multicultural programs, with a focus on intercultural communication and project-based learning structures. She is a certified Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Administrator for the assessment of intercultural sensitivity. She has lived and taught in rural Japan as part of programming for the Ministry of Education, planning and implementing cross-cultural exchange, and participating as the Curriculum Development Director for Everest of Apples (in collaboration with NEST NGO), which promotes quality education in developing countries. Lisa has designed curriculum and teacher training workshops in the United States, Japan, Nepal, China, Mexico, Albania, Palestine and Taiwan with an emphasis on social/emotional learning and cultural competence. Lisa has also presented dynamic cross-cultural workshops at the East Asia Regional Conference for Overseas Schools in Bangkok, Thailand, EARCOS in Shanghai, China and IV Congreso de Preparatoria, Preparatorias del Tecnólogico de Monterrey, ITESM in Guadalajara, Mexico, the State University of New York Multicultural Education Conference, and the SUNY Collaborative Online Intercultural Learning conference in New York, NY.
Genevieve Murphy is the co-founder of Know My World, inspiring administrators, teachers and students to participate in social impact all over the world. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has worked with a diverse population of teachers and students from various cultural and developmental backgrounds including the USA, Taiwan, Japan and Cambodia. Genevieve’s dedication to children all over the world inspired a 3-year teaching engagement in Aomori, Japan, where she taught middle school English and best practice workshops for foreigners teaching abroad. During her time in Japan, she was an active member and director of a local charity group, Everest of Apples, where she continued a long-term commitment to building an equal education-based school for students in Nepal. Among her other international education credentials, she worked in collaboration with local NGOs, Protect the Earth Protect Yourself (PEPY) and This Life Cambodia (TLC) to promote quality education in Cambodia. She has presented projects developed through Know My World at the East Asia Regional Conference for Overseas Schools (EARCOS) in Bangkok, Thailand, and Shanghai, China, as well as facilitated teacher training workshops in Nepal and Japan. Genevieve lives in Taichung, Taiwan, and is working on research in the development of Social and Emotional Learning Pathways.
Alicia Rescigno is the Educational Coordination Manager for Know My World, developing and moderating digital cross-cultural exchange for participants in over 24 countries. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University for grades K-8 with a concentration in English and Structured English Immersion. She also attended New York Institute of Technology and holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology for grades K-12. She is a certified teacher in the states of Arizona and New York has TEFL/TESOL certification to teach English as a second language. Alicia specializes in bringing quality education and intercultural communication to Home School groups as well as students and families who are challenged by illness and special needs. She currently lives in New York with her dog, Casey, her cat, Otis, and the Know My World Business Cat, Milo.
Sahrish Chaudhary is an Educational Coordinator for Know My World, facilitating digital cross-cultural exchange relationships for teachers K-Graduate. She holds a Bachelors of Arts and Sciences degree in Anthropology and Japanese language from the University of Delaware. She also has two years experience of teaching English as a second language at public schools in Japan. She is an aspiring MBA graduate student at the Lerner’s Graduate School of Business and Economics at UD. Her future aspirations involve establishing schools that will provide holistic and high quality education to people living in low income nations which is especially affordable to low income households, starting with her own birth country, Pakistan. Sahrish is currently residing in Delaware and is dedicated to her small, family owned and operated local business. She loves to travel, work out, try different foods, and learn about cultures across the world.
Kristen Wohlgemuth is an Educational Coordinator for Know My World, facilitating digital cross-cultural exchange relationships for teachers K-Graduate. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Childhood Education (grades 1-6) and a Master’s degree in Literacy Education (grades 5-12) from Plattsburgh State University. She earned her Masters of Professional Studies in Humanistic/Multicultural Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Kristen is a certified teacher in New York State and is certified to Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). She has worked in the field of higher education in the departments of Residence Life and Student Activities. She currently lives in New York and spends her spare time reading and running half marathons.
Elira Stefani is an Educational Coordinator for Know My World, facilitating digital cross-cultural exchange relationships for teachers K-Graduate. Elira was born in Tirana, Albania and spent half her life in Toronto, Canada. She holds a Child and Youth Care degree with a focus on Autism treatment. She has worked with children and youth in schools, hospitals, centers and camps. She also holds a TEFL/TESOL certificate for teaching English as a second language. Elira loves to travel and has worked with underprivileged children during her travels in countries such as Canada, Haiti, Belize, Jamaica, Honduras, and South Africa. She’s also taught English in Taichung, Taiwan and is currently teaching and living in Istanbul, Turkey. Elira speaks four languages fluently and is always trying to learn more. Her biggest passion is helping others, teaching, yoga, and learning about new lands, people, and cultures.
Daksh is the Business Development Specialist for Know My World, dedicated to bringing quality education and programming to students and schools in Asia and the world. Daksh was born and raised in Mumbai, and is now pursuing his Masters in Business Administration, with a focus on International Business, at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade at Kolkata, India and has studied at the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki. A Bachelors in Computer Engineering, he has experience with event management, sponsorship and marketing. He has a passion for travel, marketing, football(soccer, not the American kind) and education, and is always looking for new challenges that take him out of his comfort zone.
Rahul is a Business Development Specialist for Know My World bringing dynamic strategies for the support and growth of cross-cultural communication. He is a Technology and International Business Graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) respectively and has also studied at the University of Madrid (UAM), Spain. Prior to MBA, he has worked as Technological Consultant with Indus Valley Partner for two years. With both parents involved activity in improving education in India, He is an entrepreneur in the truest spirit and was a participant of Jagriti Yatra, a train journey to promote entrepreneurial spirit among youth in education sector. A swimmer in his pastime, He is an adventure enthusiast who revels in rafting, bungee, scuba and trekking. Rahul has a keen interest to learn about diverse cultures and ways of life for which he has traveled across European as well as South Asian Countries.
Phoebe Petersen is the Media Coordinator for Know My World, sharing the exciting learning opportunities and partnerships that Know My World is creating through electronic media sources. She has a B.A. in History and a Master’s degree in elementary education from Johns Hopkins University. Phoebe is a certified teacher in Maryland and Oregon and taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade in Baltimore. Prior to moving to Maryland, Phoebe worked with the prison education organization, Inside-Out, as a certified instructor and student coordinator. She is passionate about providing quality educational opportunities to underserved populations. In her spare time, Phoebe loves to read, cook, and spend time outdoors. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon where she is also a writer.
Alexa Lastowski is an Educational Coordinator for Know My World, facilitating digital cross-cultural exchange relationships for teachers K-Graduate. A recent graduate of Political Science and Globalization Studies from the University at Albany in New York, she is an avid traveler and seeker of the world. Being raised in a family rooted in Portuguese tradition, she was exposed to culture and diversity at a young age and since then has always appreciated being surrounded by people from different backgrounds. Alexa has advocated and worked in the fair trade industry and hopes to continue working in the field of social enterprise to pursue a European Masters in Immigration Policy in the near future.
Dianna Lauren Jones is an Educational Coordinator for Know My World, facilitating digital cross-cultural exchange relationships for teachers K-Graduate. Dianna enjoys working with people from all walks of life and has made the personal and professional commitment to keep growing, loving, playing and learning. She has an academic and professional background in Theater Arts, Education and Social Service. Presently she is completing the graduate coursework to earn a Master's in Public Administration with an emphasis on International Public Service and Development through an internship at the American International School in Mozambique.
Jack Haskell is an Educational Coordinator for Know My World, facilitating digital cross-cultural exchange relationships for teachers K-Graduate. Jack spent the last two years working as a teacher and volunteer program coordinator in Uganda and continues his work with various NGOs operating throughout East Africa. Currently, Jack lives in Brooklyn, NY and specializes in leveled language intervention for grades 1-8. Jack has Bachelors of Arts in Music and Journalism from St. Michaels College and is CELTA certified for teaching English as a second language. Jack is passionate about understanding different cultures and the role of education in different societies.
